M. Nevin + C. Scanlan
Matthew works as one of the Artistic Directors & Curators of the Visual Art Group MART. Matthew completed a Presentation and Performance for media certificate in BCFE, Dublin and received a BA in Film & Television and Scenography (Design) Studies. While working with MART, Matthew has curated shows nationally in Ireland and in the UK, US, Norway, Slovakia and Germany. Matthew also works as an Art Director and Designer (Film, Television & Theatre) in the UK, Ireland and the US. He has previously worked for the BBC, MTV, RTE, TG4, Element Pictures and ITV. For 2017/18, MART is looking to work with artists using experimental, boundary-pushing, risk-taking, radical contemporary installation, sculpture, performance, new media/tech and video art.
Ciara Scanlan is an artist and curator based between London and Dublin and is co-director of all things MART. She is also a founding member of the MART Initiative in 2007, a multidisciplinary group that is committed to the development of New Media Art and Live Art in Ireland and the UK. Ciara has an MA in Art in the Digital World from NCAD and a First Class BA in Fine Art from Crawford College of Art in 2005. In her own practice she is interested in the ever-present force of the media and its ability to both unify and segregate society. Ciara works primarily through the medium of video, performance and web-based interventions.
