Northern Contact Points
Visual Artists Ireland has two main points of contact in Northern Ireland.
‘ Laura Graham is a visual artist based in Belfast. Originally from Scotland, she has exhibited at the Edinburgh International Festival, London, Germany and Australia. A former solicitor, she works with narratives involving justice and inequity in a variety of mediums. She was awarded first class honours in fine and applied art from the University of Ulster combined with a Diploma in Arts Abroad following an international placement at the College of Fine Art, UNSW, Sydney. She is currently Chair of Ad Hoc collective, on the board of PS squared and artist in residence to Green Shoot Productions and GBL Productions in Belfast.’
‘Damien Duffy studied Fine Art Goldsmiths College London. Damien has lived and worked in London as a part of a number of Artist run initiatives and has exhibited in London and Europe. He has lived in Derry since 2002 and was awarded the ACNI Artist in Education Award 2003. He has been Artist in Residence at Void since 2006, setting up Voids Artschool and is a core member of Voids Curating Committee, curating Dan Hays, Cathy Wilkes and Matt Collishaw for 2010.’
The contact person role is to keep us informed of anything of interest that is happening in their area, or that they think that somebody from the main office should attend, to assist our members locally and to increase the profile of VAI. They assist us by advising us how to continue to support our members even better in Northern Ireland as we role out new support services that address local and central needs.
When VAI’s assistance is requested, the contact person may be able to help, and will also direct the visual artist to the specific person in VAI that can assist them with their query.
