Western Contact Point
Aideen Barry is Visual Artists Ireland’s contact point in the West of Ireland.
Aideen is based in Galway and will be the main point of contact for artists in Leitrim, Sligo, Mayo, Roscommon and Galway. As West of Ireland representative it is Aideen’s role to facilitate and encourage awareness of our programmes and services amongst artists in the West.
Aideen is a practising visual artist based in County Galway and has recently completed the MA in Visual Art Practices in Dun Laoghaire. She has projects and exhibitions upcoming in Galway, Cavan, Wexford, Wicklow, Glasgow and New Delhi amongst others. She recently won the 2007 Tyrone Guthrie Award, and best experimental film at the Silent Light film festival. Aideen will be artist in residence at the Banff Centre in Canada in 2007 and Cavan County Council this year. She is currently writing for FAQ and will contribute regularly to Brochure (Galway) and the Visual Artists News Sheet. Aideen is a curator/director of the G126 Gallery, Tulca and Visual Arts Director of the Galway Fisheries Tower. She teaches part-time for the Galway Film Centre and is currently a guest artist of Artspace Studios. You can contact Aideen on aideen@visualartists.ie
