Kilmainham Arts Club is a free, monthly Arts event held in the Patriots Inn, Kilmainham. Set up in September 09, it is a showcase for all artists, both local and from further afield, to present their work, be it music, visual art, film, dance, poetry, in a relaxed and engaging atmosphere. The night runs on the first Monday of each month and there is no cover charge. We are in need of more visual based artists to get involved in promoting their work through the club and our upcoming festival. Rod Coyne will give painting demonstrations and tuition for beginners and advanced painters which runs once weekly from 15th May through 19th June, Tuesday mornings, afternoon or evenings, and Wednesday mornings. The classes are suitable for beginners and advanced painters, as Rod will be going through the basics towards achieving a finished piece. The course content will include drawing and observational skills, composition, tonal and colour studies. BLOCK T are looking for enthusiastic and flexible volunteers who are passionate about art, to come on board and help us to launch L I N K Culturefest – a new and innovative arts festival for the Dublin North West area- during the period of May 24th to the 27th. L I N K is an exciting new pilot project that we hope will run on a yearly basis to showcase the life, culture, art and people that reflect the diversity that exists in the North West Central Dublin area. But we need your help.
The L I N K Culturefest weekend will be filled with a variety of events and opportunities, and we need volunteers to help out with the following events: Help with set-up of exhibition in Block B (From Monday 21st – 25th May), Help with setting up the showroom (Monday and Tuesday 21st and 22nd), Administrative tasks, Helping to fold all the maps (Monday 21st May), Helping with the set up of the launch (Friday 25th 12pm – 6pm), Help out during the launch 6-9pm, Curatorial assistance- postcard exhibition (Fri 25th 12pm – 6pm), Invigilation of exhibition (Sat & Sunday 12pm-6pm), Helping to set up BLOCK T gig -There is a gig on Fri and another on Sat in the Church- we will need help setting these gigs up, Marketing and Distribution – posters, flyers and maps in the local area, Open Studios- possible help needed at one of the partner organisations | If you are interested in volunteering, please send a current CV and cover letter (stating any relevant experience you have in the arts and your overall availability) to E: linkvolunteer@blockt.ie | www.blockt.ie
Embellishing by Hand Workshop – 19th and 26th May 2012 with Aisling Folan | Cost E 245 | This workshop is aimed at those who are interested in learning the art of hand embellishment and would be most suited to people with some fashion design/sewing experience wishing to further their skills. Over the course of two consecutive Saturdays, you will be shown various basic techniques and guided through the process from design idea to embellishment on a garment of your choice. A reasonable grasp of hand sewing will be important to get the most out of this. Limited to groups of six per class, these hands-on, intensive sessions will take place over two consecutive Saturdays between 10am and 5.30pm in the Fashion Hothouse.

The prospective student will have a good level of drawing skills, be studying/working in the Fashion Industry or have a keen interest in clothes design. 4 Mondays – June 4, 11, 18 and 25 from 6-9pm or 2 Sundays – June 10 and 17, from 10 to 6pm | Cost: E 100 | Screen printing is also referred to as silk screen printing or serigraphy. During the workshop students will learn how to print their own designs using three different screen printing techniques: Paper, Reduction and Photo. Cork Printmakers is currently seeking a Marketing and Fundraising Administrator under the JobBridge National Internship Scheme. The successful applicant will gain practical experience in the administration of the key fine art print facility in the South of Ireland; in the delivery of the marketing and fundraising support for a number of projects and events, and in the preparation of the Marketing Plan for the organisation. On completion the intern will have attained skills in Marketing and Fundraising, Project Management, Clerical & Admin practice and Communications.
This placement is open to persons with a background/knowledge in any of the arts disciplines or in Marketing and/ or Fundraising. The Internship will be for a maximum of 9 months duration. The successful intern will receive an allowance of E 50 per week on top of their social welfare entitlement. This will be payable for the period of the internship.
