The main exhibition for 2012 is a solo show by Hans Josephsohn, which opens on 12 May and continues until 30 September. Staged in collaboration with Hauser & Wirth and Kesselhaus Josephsohn, the exhibition will feature works dating from 1950 to 2011, specially selected for Lismore including pieces in the gallery and the historic Castle Gardens. The exhibition offers a rare opportunity to enjoy key works from an internationally important artist.

Josephsohn, now in his 90s, is a highly regarded artist and his practice continues to inform and inspire contemporary artists. This will be his first solo exhibition in Ireland and his first institutional exhibition since 2008. In the past decade there have been major solo exhibitions at the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam and the Museum für Moderne Kunst Frankfurt. Throughout the summer there will be a programme of events involving cultural commentators and a specially commissioned publication will be published in summer 2012. www.lismorecastlearts.ie [1]

'Liens' (ties, bonds, connections) is an evolution of the work done by the French artist Pauline Turmel and the Irish artist Finola Graham for their exhibition Cross-Currents in the ‘Centre Culturel Irlandais’Paris in 2011. The Paris exhibition was the result of a process of exchange of ideas and of place that took place over a period of three years, between the two artists of different worlds, nationalities and generations. Every three months from 2007 to 2010 Turmel came to Co. Clare to work in Graham’s studio and the surrounding area, while Graham went to Paris and worked in Turmel’s studio there | www.ennistymoncourthousegallery.blogspot.com [1]

Jill Bouchier is a Waterford based artist who studied painting at Chelsea School of Art. Her forthcoming exhibition will include geometric paintings and textile pieces. Jill’s work incorporates fabrics and found materials such as envelopes, blankets, buttons and textile samples. These everyday materials are transformed to create collages and sewn pieces that explore pattern and the associative power of fabrics that are reminiscent of traditional quilts. Her paintings fascinate through their cool elegance. In recent works, the exploration of textile processes and the aesthetics of design has become increasingly central to her practice | www.somacontemporary.com [1]

This exhibition of extraordinary paintings by Pasty Connolly represents a journey and a personal narration through the artists emotional life and her spiritual connection between nature and art. Patsy’s work is eclectic but well balanced, where her draw toward abstracts and symbolism is well conjugated with her representational urge. This is an interesting show with an emotional impact | www.russellgallery.net [1]

All of them observe landscapes and buildings around us with their own unique view. Tom Climent’s work has been steadily evolving over the years. His latest work features architectural shapes which hover between background and foreground. Gary Kearney portrays various aspects of city landscapes, perspective and lighting. His large body of photographic images comprising of architecture and perspective are source material for his paintings. Vida Pain paints magnified portions of images, often at skewed angles and also sourced from her own digital photographs. Her paintings encourage feelings of tranquillity and a deep personal connection to the ordinary everyday world. Further info : www.thesourceartscentre.ie [1]
