Description: Visual Artists Ireland continues its tradition of working to improve conditions for professional visual artists and is engaged in the following: - Seeking reform of social security conditions for artists - Carrying out research into the social and economic status of artists - Making submissions on behalf of the sector at national and EU level - Advising all political parties on national cultural policies - Addressing the staffing deficit within the cultural sector - Lobbying on issues such as the artists tax exemption and the artists resale right To inform and compliment this work VAI would like to establish advocacy volunteer groups across Ireland; a regional network of artists who can inform us of issues at a local level and provide feedback on matters that affect artists across Ireland. The advocacy volunteer groups will keep us informed of anything of interest that is happening in their area, or that they think that somebody from the VAI office should attend, to assist our members locally. These groups will help guide the advocacy work which we undertake while also assisting us from time to time by engaging with the issues at hand. Artists may register their interest in joining or forming a volunteer group using the form below.
