Budgeting Costing & Pricing Your Work with Annette Moloney
As freelance artists working to commission or submitting budgets as part of proposals it is necessary for us to have a clear idea of what it costs to produce our work, and adequately pay ourselves for our time, before communicating with potential clients. In this short afternoon session Annette will provide practical guidance on: developing a day/ hourly rate for your work; budgeting for proposals and projects and good professional practice around billing and charging clients.

Desmond Gibbons & Co are a firm of Certified Public Accountants based in Skibbereen in west cork. They have a wealth of knowledge and experience gained over 30 years serving their clients locally and in many other parts of Ireland. They provide a broad range of services including, audit and accountancy, taxation both personal and corporate, company secretarial, consultancy and business planning as well as a dedicated bookkeeping and payroll service. They welcome new business and enjoy helping businesses to establish themselves and help them through the start up process from concept to a working business.
Annette Moloney is a curator and collaborator. Her practice includes exhibitions, critical writing, public policy development, talks and lectures, artist’s professional development and mentoring projects as well as public art commissions. She works with the Arts Council of Ireland as the Per Cent for Art Adviser. During 2015 she was Cavan Curator in Residence (with Maeve Mulrennan) working directly with Artists from a range of artforms. She also received an Arts Council of Ireland Curator in Residence Award to develop endurance | resilience, a Curated @ Source project which examines the links between sport and human effort in contemporary art located at the Source Arts Centre, Thurles, Co. Tipperary. A Fine Art graduate from Limerick School of Art & Design and the National College of Art & Design, she has completed a Masters in Visual Arts Practice at IADT (Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design & Technology), Dublin, specialising in Curatorial Practice. She is a proud member of the Munster Rugby Supporters Club.
Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre is a publicly funded arts facility that creates opportunities for the people of West Cork to have access to, and engagement with, local and global arts practice of excellence. It supports a multi-disciplinary arts programme with a focus on contemporary visual art . It is a resource and development agency, providing expertise and physical and human resources to assist artists, other arts organisations, groups and individuals to realise arts projects.
