SketchUp is a 3D modelling tool for a wide range of drawing applications. It can be used in a variety of ways such as modelling for potential sculptures, to create simple but effective animations or produce 3D models of interior spaces, useful in the designing and layout of exhibitions.
Over a 2-day workshop students will be introduced to:
■ The layout of the programme.
■ How to create a 3D object.
■ How to create a 3D interior space.
■ How to create an animation from your models.
Day One: Will consist of introducing students to the programme, its layout, the numerous templates to choose from and the tools necessary to create drawings. Time will be given to exploring and familiarising students with the layout, templates and tools and their various uses and possibilities. Students will create a 3D environment and learn how to navigate the space from a variety of angles.
Day Two: Will consist of creating a 3D interior and laying out objects in that space. Students will be introduced to colour and textures that can be introduced to create specific surfaces. Students will be shown shortcut techniques useful for large-scale models. Finally, students will be shown how to create and export an animation of their models.
Please note that a free Access Programme place will be offered on this course – please include a cover letter with your application to apply for this free space.
