The Public Appointments Service intend to hold a competition for the purpose of recommending a person for appointment to the position of Senior Photographer at the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.

The Senior Photographer is a member of the Photographic Unit in the National Monuments Service (NMS) which is part of the Department‟s Heritage Division. NMS is based mainly in the Custom House in Dublin 1. Of the 44 staff in NMS, 28 are located in Dublin, with an additional 16 staff based in regional offices.

NMS has responsibility for the formulation and implementation of policy relating to the protection of Ireland’s archaeological heritage and is committed to conserving and managing our unique built heritage for the benefit of present and future generations, as a support to economic renewal and sustainable employment, and in compliance with legal obligations.

The Senior Photographer will report to a Senior Archaeologist (Grade II) in the National Monuments Service. The Senior Photographer is responsible for the management of the NMS’s photographic records and the provision of photographic services to the Department and other Departments as deemed appropriate.
