14 to 21 August
‘Passage of Sound’ is an outdoor video installation commissioned by Clare County Council for Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2017 hosted in Ennis. This 22-minute audio-visual film was created specifically to integrate with the architecture of the site surrounding the River Fergus in the oldest part of the town and to explore our relationship to the living landscape through the traditions of Irish music and dance. On every evening of the Fleadh between August 13th and the 20th after dusk, ‘Passage of Sound’ can be seen from the Club Bridge area of Ennis.
The narrative features a lone character who crosses the landscape encountering music and dance along the way. The journey is a metaphorical one, presenting the experience of the artist who travels to the edge in search of music and sound.
