A Tree Without Roots Can Fly | Mateusz Lubecki at Carrickmacross Arts Festival 2017

9 August to 9 September

Carrickmacross Arts Festival are proud to announce their first Fringe Solo Art Exhibition showcasing work by Mateusz Lubecki at Carrickmacross Library.

The exhibition will be opened by Minister for Arts and Culture Heather Humphreys. There will also be several members of the council and the arts festival committee in attendance.

Mateusz is a visual artist who was born and grew up in Poland, and is currently living in Mullagh, county Cavan. After graduating with a BA in Art from IADT in 2016 he was awarded a Peer Residency in the Royal Hibernian Academy, and later this year he will commence the Bullock Lane Residency in Cavan Town.

His work is mainly concerned with the nuances and imperfections of memory. He uses his own childhood memories and photographs from family albums, and tries to materialise his past and, at the same time, comment on how photography influences and changes how we remember our past.
