LATITUDE | North-55 at Malin, Inishowen, Co. Donegal.

29 September 2017

LATITUDE is a North-55 collaborative project which explores the cultural and social complexities of place.
ENGAGE colloquium contributors include: Bonita Bennett (District Six Museum, Cape Town), Marie Barrett (North-55, Donegal), John Peto (The Nerve Centre, Derry), Micaela Martegani (MORE ART, New York), Fiona Whelan (Visual artist, Dublin), Kevin Murphy (Voluntary Arts Ireland), Annette Patton (Inishowen Development Partnership).

LATITUDE: Premier screening of the LATITUDE film and ENGAGE colloquium.

The ENGAGE colloquium will draw on local, national and international contributors to promote discussion on a range of socially engaged arts practices addressing issues of marginalisation, civic participation and post-conflict society.

The LATITUDE film traces community displacement and socio-cultural dividing
lines along three cross-border rivers the Blackwater, the Erne and the Foyle. The film is both layered and abstract, moving visually into these underwater terrains creating a dialogue ‘above’ and ‘below’ the waterline.
LATITUDE is a Making Great Art Work – Open Call 2016 award funded by The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon.
