Safarnama | Amna Kiran at Johnston Central Library, Cavan

17 April to 5 May
17 April, 4pm: official launch by Fergal Curtin, Cathaoirleach, Cavan County Council and guest speaker Andrea Connolly.

As part of the Cruinniú na Cásca national day of culture, to be held on Easter Monday, 17 April, Cavan County Council and Cavan County Library Service will host ‘Safarnama’, an exhibition by Amna Kiran, at Johnston Central Library, Cavan Town.

‘Safarnama’ is a collection of paintings that capture images of the artist’s journey from her native Pakistan to her adopted home in Cavan, Ireland. She thinks of the work as “my heart, my fellow traveller” and describes ‘Safarnama’ as “mostly conceptual, figurative and architectural in nature”.

The artist constantly seeks to assimilate new influences in her work and to develop in maturity through travel and life experience.

The artist has a Masters Degree in Related Arts from the University of Punjab in Pakistan. She has lived in Cavan for eight years and during this time she has worked at The Moth Studio. She has participated in group shows as part of Rianta during Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann and is a member of Solas Art Gallery, Ballinamore, where she has exhibited.
