Hinge / Undercentral is an investigation into the formulations of black hole thermodynamics and gravitational singularity, working with the notion of chaos, collapse and transformation. The opening narrative fastens on the fictional island of Hy-Brasil off the west coast of Ireland, real or mythical rises and disappears into the Atlantic. Working on the concept of layered narratives that transform, orbit, and repel each other as the curvature of time becomes infinite.

Central to the armature of this work is the obsolescence Achill Henge on Achill Island. Installed during Irelands Celtic tiger from an imitation of Stonehenge that mirrors James Joyce’s Finnegan’s Wake, the end joins up with the beginning.
The plough unearths the surface of the natural world folding in on itself with chaos and drive for an epistemological order.

Strano Film Festival is an international short film competition with ‘the land’ as its theme. Interpretation is up to the filmaker: working the land, migration from one land to another, the geological significance of the land. 24 film makers from Italy, Norway, Tunisa, USA, Ireland, UK, Syria, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
