22 to 23 September
An exhibition of printmaking from artists across Ireland in The Blackgate Cultural Centre brings together and celebrates a part of print that makes it such a unique art-form, sharing. EP’17 is a fine art print exchange established by Galway Print Studio. The exchange is an open, non-curated project, and a unique opportunity for artists to connect with other artists in Ireland.
Printmaking by its nature is collaborative and can be seen in the establishment of the studios around the country. Represented in this exhibition are artists from Dublin’s Graphic Print Studio and Black Church Print Studio, Limerick Printmakers, Belfast Print Workshop, Custom House Studios Westport and Cló sa Chró Printmaking, Claremorris.
Artists taking part in this exchange produce an edition of twelve prints in a theme of their choice. They receive ten randomly selected prints from the other artists. Moreover, each print will be available to buy from The Blackgate Cultural Centre and the Studio website. A boxset containing ten prints from the exhibition, presented in a beautiful case from Kennys Bindery, will be the main prize in a fundraiser draw. A second set of ten artworks will be also up for grabs plus some other prizes including a voucher from Cregal Art, Galway Print Studio and more. Tickets cost just €10 and can be purchased on Galway Print Studios website.
The draw will be held on Culture Night the 22nd of September. This exchange is a celebration of Fine Art Printmaking in Ireland and all proceeds from the draw go towards Galway Print Studio, a non-profit arts collective keeping the tradition of Fine Art Printmaking alive in Galway.
