The Common Room Social Network for the Visual Arts… - A social networking site is an excellent method to make connections with people with similar interests and goals within the visual arts. It is a way to engage with or “meet” people that an artist may not have had the opportunity to meet before—including other artists, curators, writers and those with an interest in the visual arts. For this reason, Visual Artists Ireland undertook a project to develop The Common Room Social Network for the Visual Arts to assist artists, art professionals and public in meeting people and staying connected. The Common Room seeks to promote mutual understanding among members by highlighting practices, commonalities, and experiences through forums, blogs, photos, and videos. Integrated with other social networking site, The Common Room offers comfort, flexibility and the opportunity to engage with peers on a local and worldwide basis.
