Here’s an update on what’s coming next from VAI Lifelong learning…
Monday 29 August: Visual Artists Café – Focus on Westmeath (3pm)
Tune in to hear updates from Westmeath County Council Arts Office, the Arts Council, Creative Ireland’s Director Tania Benotti and Show and Tells from four County Westmeath based visual artists.
Wednesday 21 September: An Artist’s Guide to Tax (2pm)
Gaby Smyth returns with his introductory session on finance for artists. This session aims to support artists who are new to self-employment or who are considering registering as self-employed with Revenue. Artists who have attended the webinar can avail of 1 of 8 one-to-one clinic sessions with Gaby Smyth on Friday 23 September (3-5.20pm) – now fully booked
Wednesday 28 September: How to Fill Out Your Tax Return via ROS (2pm)
A step by step walkthrough guide on how to fill in your tax return via ROS in the context of Artists and Freelancers involved in the arts.
Tuesday 4 October: Visual Artists Café – Introducing Kerry (3pm)
Save the date. In this visual artists café we will hear an update from County Kerry Arts Office and from county based visual artists and visual arts organisations. More details to follow.
Wednesday 5 October: Visual Artists Café – Social Welfare (3pm)
Grainne Ward from the Citizen’s Information Service will give an update on Social Welfare issues concerning visual artists and how Budget 2023 might affect you. As well as posting questions during the session, you also have the opportunity to forward a question or query in advance of the event.
Wednesday 12 October: The Ethical Artist – Creating, Challenging, Meaningful work in a Changing World (11am & 1-5pm)
John Thorne from Glasgow School of Art returns to highlight best practice considerations and techniques for visual artists who wish to reduce their environmental impacts, use materials with more awareness, and create art that challenges our ecological and societal perspective. Emerging and mid-level visual artists will gain key insights on the on the use of materials, of exhibiting work, travel, the power of art to emotionally connect us, and our proportional responsibility.
