Description

Two linked interdisciplinary workshops:

Artists & UCC Climate, Environmental & Ecological Scientists

Workshop One: Fri 26th Sep 2025, 10am – 4pm,

Workshop Two: Thur 4th Dec 2025, 10am – 4pm
(Artists need to commit to both workshops)

Six Artists (in any discipline) will be selected.

(+ opportunity to share process at an Arts & Sustainability Event on Fri 5th Dec)

Are you interested in exploring ways to collaborate with UCC Climate, Environmental & Ecological Scientists? This call welcomes Artists in any discipline Are you interested in developing collaborations with scientists? Do you already have experience of such collaboration? What knowledge and methodologies might we share and explore? Led by UCC’s Professor of Creative Practice, Jools Gilson, these two connected workshops will bring together UCC Climate, Environmental & Ecological Scientists and professional Artists to explore creative strategies for collaborative partnership. Using methodologies from Arts Practice and Science, the workshops will make space for collaborative compositions / proposals. Designed to be two months apart, this workshop rhythm is intended to provide space for reflection and exchange between partnered Artists and Scientists. Learning from these workshops will inform the development of a proposed Arts & Sustainability Festival for Cork City. A pilot Arts & Sustainability event will take place on Fri 5th Dec 2025.

TO PROVIDE YOUR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST: Please submit a 2 page CV and a covering letter (max 600 words) explaining why you are interested in these Arts / Science workshops and how it relates to your practice to Sinead.Gallagher@ucc.ie by midnight 31st Aug 2025.

This is a professional development opportunity for Artists in any discipline and the €250 is a stipend rather than a fee payment. There is no additional fee available for travel or accommodation.
