Description

Our Side of the Mountain: A Modern Day Almanac by Marie Brett

A Public Art Project by artist Marie Brett inviting people with links to Errill and Rathdowney in County Laois.

Laois Arts Office has selected artist Marie Brett to lead a public art project with the communities of Errill and Rathdowney in County Laois during 2025 / 2026.

Marie Brett is an award winning Irish visual artist whose artwork is held in the national collections of The Irish Museum of Modern Art and The Arts Council. For this socially engaged public art project: Our Side of the Mountain, Marie is exploring ideas of health, care and the ‘hale, brave and hearty’ and people linked to Errill and Rathdowney are invited to participate in events the artist is organising, ranging from open research and field trips, to making and (indoor / outdoor) installation events.

If you have a connection to Errill or Rathdowney and would like to be involved in one of the events Marie is organising, the artist would love to hear from you and she can be contacted here  https://www.mariebrett.ie/contact

“This project is an exciting, innovative and artistically ambitious approach to public art.” Laois Arts Office.

The funding for this public art project is from the Department of Housing Local Government and Heritage and is supported by Laois County Council
