Description

Executive Director of the Gallery (Grade VI) – Closing Date 8th September 2025.

Limerick City Gallery of Art (LCGA) is the largest contemporary art gallery in the Mid-Western Region, annually exhibiting national and international artists in a diverse contemporary exhibition programme.

LCGA is one of Limerick City and County Council’s most visited cultural buildings welcoming approximately 90,000 visitors annually. It receives an annual strategic funding contribution from the Arts Council to support LCGA’s role in leading, sustaining and developing the arts in Ireland.

LCGA is home to a Permanent Collection comprising circa 1,000 works of Irish 18th to 21st century art in all media, including the National Collection of Contemporary Drawing and the Michael O’Connor International Poster Collection. The Permanent Collection is exhibited on a rotation basis throughout the year in its dedicated exhibition gallery.

Limerick City and County Council has a permanent vacancy of Executive Director for the Limerick City Gallery of Art (LCGA).

This is an exciting opportunity for an arts professional of experience and flair to be part of an organisation that is at the forefront of the visual arts in Limerick and the Mid-Western region.

LCGA aims to deliver an excellent inclusive service to an increasing audience and develop its role as a primary visitor attraction for all communities in the context of a creative city and county.

The Executive Director of the Gallery will lead on the strategic development and artistic direction of the Gallery which hosts a comprehensive exhibition programme of both contemporary Irish and International artists alongside exhibitions selected from the extensive Permanent Collection.

Salary
€57,322 – €70,030 per annum.
Annual Leave
30 days annual leave.
Hours of Work
The working hours at present provide for a five day, thirty five hours working week, hours may vary from time to time.
