Discover the Art of Printmaking – Without Getting Your Hands Dirty!
Curious about how Fine art prints are made?
This 4-week Print Appreciation Evening Class is a fantastic opportunity for anyone with an interest in Fine art printmaking to delve into the fascinating world of print without needing any prior experience. Led by Master Printer Niamh Flanagan, this engaging course offers a unique insight into the rich and varied printmaking techniques practiced at Graphic Studio Dublin. Each session will include illustrated talks, informal discussions, and live demonstrations of traditional and contemporary print methods.
Participants will explore a variety of processes including intaglio techniques such as drypoint, engraving, mezzotint, and etching, as well as carborundum and multi-plate etching. Using the studio space and works from the Graphic Studio archive, Niamh will guide you through the stories behind the prints and how each one is created.
Whether you’re a complete beginner, a curious collector, or an artist looking to deepen your appreciation, this class promises to be informative, inspiring, and thoroughly enjoyable.

This course is aimed at absolutely anyone with an interest in art or printmaking, including recent graduates and new members, art collectors, artists and printmakers.
REQUIREMENTS AND MATERIALS
Bring a notebook and pen for taking notes on any relevant information that may be given over the course.

Participants can inform themselves fully of the range of techniques and how they work before committing to doing a course for themselves.
ABOUT THE TUTOR
Niamh Flanagan graduated from Fine Art Print in NCAD and is a member of Graphic Studio Dublin where she also works as Programme Coordinator and Master Printer.
Her work is mostly multi-plate etching, and also collage, monoprint and mokuhanga. Her work is in the collections of the National Gallery of Ireland, the OPW, the British Library and the Chester Beatty Library Dublin. She has taken part in residencies nationally and internationally including at Edinburgh Printmakers and Cill Rialaig Co. Kerry.

Please note there is a minimum requirement of participants, if not reached course is subject to cancellation. A full refund will be issued in this event. If a participant cancels with less than 21 days notice, they forfeit the deposit amount of €50, cancellations with less than 14 days notice will forfeit the full course fee.
