Open Call | From The Crow Gallery
The Crow Gallery will showcase artists working through the lens of disability justice, exploring perceptions of disability, ableism, and inclusion.
We invite artists to submit new or existing work that explores these themes. Submissions may be painting, collage, drawing, video or photography.
Launching during Westival (the Westport Arts Festival) in a pop-up space, the project aims to challenge public attitudes, spark dialogue, and offer meaningful roles to people with disabilities in planning, curating and running the space. The gallery will promote visibility, community and a shift in how society views difference.
This pilot will inform the development of a permanent space planned for 2026.
Work by a limited number of artists will be chosen by a panel.
Please send the following:
- A concise artist’s statement that tells us about your work and how it might connect and respond to the theme above (300 words max)
- A CV (2 pages max)
- A clearly outlined description of work to be exhibited, it’s size. Include detail about its installation.
- Examples of previous work or links to a website. Up to 3 images. (If you are an emerging artist, this is not a requirement)
Notes for Applicants:
We will confirm receipt of all applications.
There is no submission fee.
There will be press and promotion work as part of Westival and as part of documenting the evolution of the gallery. We reserve the right to photograph works and to use elements of accepted entries for exhibition for publicity purposes, unless the artist expressly states the contrary in writing. Copyright of all work remains the property of the artist.
