Our undertaking to our donors and funders

We, The Sculptor’s Society of Ireland trading as Visual Artists Ireland (VAI), are now compliant with the Statement of Guiding Principles for Fundraising. We have extended these to an undertaking concerning our treatment of our funders.

It is of priority to us that we maintain the best standards when receiving donations from our generous supporters and grants from our funders.

  • It is our promise to treat all of our donors and funding bodies with respect, honesty and openness.
  • We commit to being accountable and transparent so that our current and future donors and funders can have full confidence in VAI.
  • We promise to use donations and grants effectively.

Our promise our donors and funders is that we will:

  • Treat you all with respect and confidentiality
  • Ensure that our communication with you is honest and transparent
  • Respect your right to privacy and confidentiality
  • Not subject you to any form of undue pressure
  • Inform you of our work, and explain clearly how your donations and funding will be used
  • Handle your donation and funding responsibly and ensure it is used effectively
  • Provide our most recent financial statement when requested
  • Provide appropriate acknowledgement and recognition
  • Inform you whether those seeking donations or funding are volunteers, employees or third party agents, as per our disclosure statement
  • Give prompt, truthful and forthright answers to any questions you may have about VAI

All donations and funding will be:

  • Handled with the highest level of accuracy and transparency and financial records will be kept to ensure accountability and tracking
  • Applied to that purpose to which they were donated or allocated as a condition of funding, with any changes notified and agreed in advanced
  • Acknowledged promptly, unless no acknowledgement is requested or insufficient contact details are provided
  • Applied to the greatest advantage of visual artists in Ireland
  • Subjected to an annual audit by a firm of independent Auditors, and will be included in VAI’s annual accounts filed in the Companies’ Office
  • Used solely to deliver VAI’s mission and objectives

VAI’s staff will:

  • Be polite, courteous, transparent, accurate and honest
  • Respond where necessary to email, letters and telephone enquiries, in a prompt manner
  • Achieve the highest standards of professionalism at all times
  • Seek to minimise costs relating to fundraising activities
  • Make it easy to ask a question, or make a complaint
  • Treat feedback and complaints seriously whether made by telephone, letter, fax, email or in person and deal with them quickly and appropriately
  • In the case of direct recruitment of direct debits, adhere to the Code of Practice developed by the Irish Fundraising Forum for Direct Recruitment
  • Adhere to the guidelines and requirements contained in the Charities Act, 2009
  • Comply with the Data Protection Acts 1988 and 2003
