Description

In this talk, Dublin-based painter Kathy Tynan shares her journey of establishing herself as an artist and the steps that led to securing gallery representation. She will reflect on navigating the early stages of a career in the visual arts, from opportunities and setbacks to developing a consistent practice, and offer insights into working with galleries, residencies, and arts organisations.

Bio

Kathy Tynan is an artist based in Dublin and a lecturer in TUD and NCAD. She is a resident artist at the Dún Laoghaire Baths Studios and is represented by Kevin Kavanagh, Dublin. Recent solo exhibitions include ‘Meantime’ (2024) and ‘Soft Fascination’ (2022) Kevin Kavanagh; ‘Keep some steady friends around’ (2022) Dunamaise Arts Centre; and ‘Luminous Twitch’ (2019) The LAB Gallery. Recent group exhibitions include ‘Faigh Amach’ (2025) TBG+S; and ‘The Golden Fleece Award: 21 Years’ (2022) Solstice Arts Centre.
