This intensive one day workshop is designed to instruct beginners and more advanced students in the fundamentals of classical Figure Drawing. In class students will draw and observe directly from a posed model. Gesture, anatomy, distribution of weight, light and shade, line, proportion, mass, tone and value will all be discussed and demonstrated for the class along with individual attention to each student. Students will work directly in front of the posed model while learning each lesson. Students will learn to render the form of the model while understanding the basic structure of anatomical references and pressure points. Proper modeling of form in charcoal and pencils will be explained and demonstrated. This is a method of drawing based on tonal masses which will prepare students to understand the basics of painting.
