In this two-day workshop, participants will make an A3 portfolio. These portfolios are ideal for storing prints, drawings or photographs – any that needs to be stored flat or carried around safely.
We will start by creating stamped paste papers, one of the oldest forms of decorative paper used by bookbinders. The paste paper will be used for the outside of the portfolios coupled with Buckram bookcloth. By the end of the workshop, participants will have their own highly personalised durable portfolio.
You will also gain knowledge of how to use basic book binding tools and the principals of bookbinding including grain direction, gluing and folding tips.
Participants are encouraged to bring along any ideas, decorative paper, ribbon or inscription ideas that they would like to incorporate into their portfolio.
You need to bring:
Stanley knife/scalpel, cutting mat, ruler, pencil.
All other materials will be supplied.
