From Flame to Fuse is a two day class designed for people who want to learn methods and techniques of working at the torch, specifically for including into kiln formed glass. Under the guidance of Andrea Spencer and using Bullseye glass, the class will cover how to break down sheet glass to make rods and stringers that can be further manipulated in the flame. Over two days, participants will have the opportunity to learn simple flame working skills that will allow them to experimentally play, practice and construct with glass. Techniques will include how to make a variety of simple shapes alongside different methods of color application, using both bench and hand torches. These elements will then be taken to the kiln for explore the effects of further heat manipulation.
The working day will be structured around demonstrations and plenty of individual practice at the torch. There will be individual guidance and group discussions. We will be focused on exploration and investigation rather than finished products.
