Artist Marie Brett is seeking an experienced freelance project manager with interest/experience of work with communities to support her and Cork Midsummer Festival in the making of a new multi-disciplinary art installation, Growhouse (working title). This will be presented as part of Cork Midsummer Festival, June 2020.
The successful applicant will work closely with lead artist Marie Brett and Head of Participation and Engagement Kath Gorman, Cork Midsummer Festival. The role would require someone to be Cork region based and available between mid-January until late June.
Visual artist Marie Brett with other creative collaborators will create a site-specific installation using film, sound, performance and other immersive features to explore the experiences of trafficking victims kept captive and forced to grow cannabis in grow houses in Ireland. This project deals with themes of modern day slavery, one of the most critical human rights issues today. It will include working with communities of interest, including an advisory group of experts, young adults, gardeners and growers.
The project is funded by The Arts Council and a Creative Europe Co-Operation grant.
