Description

Artists based in Co Kerry and neighbouring counties are warmly invited to a day of conversation, insight, and connection.

There will be opening presentations by curators Angela O Kelly, Rayne Booth and Aisling Clarke on the artist and curator partnership, securing and delivering exhibitions and getting over the challenges exhibitions pose.

This will then be followed by individual artist and curator clinics.

Angela O’Kelly

Angela O’Kelly studied Jewellery and Silversmithing at the Edinburgh College of Art, Edinburgh and graduated with a Degree and Postgraduate Diploma in 1998. In 2004 she completed a Masters of Arts Management and Cultural Policy in University College Dublin. O’Kelly is a designer maker who crosses boundaries of jewellery, textiles and sculpture. She combines paper with mixed media using a variety of traditional and non-traditional textile and jewellery techniques. Inspiration derives from a fascination with simple shapes, textures, repetition and colour in urban and rural landscapes. O’Kelly has exhibited extensively in international exhibitions and galleries. Her work can be seen in many private collections and the public collections of the National Museum of Ireland, the British Crafts Council, London; the Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh; the Museum of Art and Design, New York; the Cleveland Arts Centre International Jewellery Collection, UK; and the Office of Public Works, Dublin.
Now head of department since 1998 O’Kelly lectured part time in textile and jewellery departments of the National College of Art and Design and Edinburgh College of Art.

Aisling Clark

Aisling Clark is a Dublin-based Curator. She was Provost’s Fellow in Curating 2023 at The Douglas Hyde Gallery, Trinity College Dublin, where she developed Unearthing Empire, a public programme connecting Ireland’s colonial past and present. Her recent research has focused on (de-)constructing nationalism: exploring architect Herbert Simms’ social housing in the Irish Free State, published by Mirror Lamp Press, and architect Michael Scott’s role in shaping the arts and culture of Modern Ireland, which will appear in a forthcoming monograph published by UCD’s School of Art History & Cultural Policy. In 2025, she curated the exhibition False Start → at GOMA Gallery of Modern Art, Waterford and is assistant curator of Out of the Strong, Came Forth Sweetness, at the former Science Gallery building, Dublin.

Rayne Booth

Rayne Booth is a freelance curator and producer who has been highly engaged in the visual arts community in Ireland since 2004. Throughout her career, she has focused on creating opportunities for artists and audiences, collaborating directly with artists to develop new ideas, artworks, and infrastructure for the visual arts. Currently, Rayne is curator and Director of Superprojects, where she develops major commissioned projects for children and young people. Alongside the Contemporary Art Gallery Association, she has driven the development of the new Dublin Gallery Weekend initiative since 2023. Rayne is also currently acting Public Art Officer for Dublin City Council. She develops and manages national exhibition tours across multiple venues, working to date with the Irish/Brazilian artist duo Wagner/de Burca, London-based Irish artist Marianne Keating, and is currently in the planning stages of a tour of the work of Irish artists Alice Rekab and Barbara Knezevic.
