Description

‘In this course, I explore a wide range of drawing techniques in charcoal using photos of the landscape as source material. My approach is rooted firmly in the act of looking and drawing as a means of exploring the visible world. All drawing to my mind is very simple in its essence, and all it really takes is a willingness to get your fingers a little dirty with charcoal.’

Michael Wann

The course is designed to explore in depth the act of looking and drawing the landscape with charcoal in an approachable and enjoyable way. At your own pace, you will work in a format of well structured, pre-recorded modules through:
  • Exploring a full range of possibilities of the medium of charcoal;
  • Identifying and following a map for the composition;
  • Using the ‘Drawing with light’ technique;
Weekly online live sessions will provide an opportunity to get personalised feedback on your work.
