Céline Bureau is a non-profit artist residency in Montréal which fosters exchanges between local, national and international artists of different ages, backgrounds, mediums, and identities. The residency provides a shared workspace to research and develop ideas and / or practices alongside other artists.
Céline Bureau are now looking for 3 curators to be part of their Curatorial Summer Residency. The residency will take place in Céline Bureau’s garage, with access through the back alley. As a curator, you will have the chance to select an artist/a group of artists to work from their garage during a month, and be part of a day-long finissage showcasing the work of the group. Each curator will have access to the garage for 30 days. You would be assigned a spot between July 15th – Oct 15. The garage doors will be open for the public – They will encourage the community to come and say hi, wearing a mask and keeping a safe distance in order to ensure artists/staff and community’s safety.
The residency is open to all self-identifying artists, writers and curators (visual, literary, curatorial, theatre, dance, performance, film, new media, organizational, etc.), with an active professional practice, irrespective of age or nationality.
Priority is given to curators who identify as BIPOC, QPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+ or who currently feel unable to access professional arts organizations. They invite curators to follow a similar logic within their own selection process. Previous curatorial experience is not mandatory.
Offered by the residency:
- Access to our garage and basement spaces during a full month.
- Budget up to $1500 for artist/curator fees and expenses/following CARFAC guidelines.
- Promotion + interviews via our social media.
