Open Call | Elektron – Online Residencies 2021

Each day we wake up in a new world. The very idea of certainty seems to have turned into irony. While it might feel like surrealists have already exhausted the power of words to manifest this state of being, we believe we can still have a say. A say in what we intend to make of today. A say which does not necessarily ask for words. A say to perform. A say to explore. Together.

eˉlektron invites 6 art professionals in the fields of performing/visual/sound arts, tech creatives/programmers, and designers to join us online in this exploration during the month of February 2021. Selected artists will form 2 temporary collectives which will together develop their own manifestos in the form of an online performance while taking into account a broader audience experience.

The final results of both collectives will be a part of an online stage of the International Performing Arts Festival of Spooky Action at a Distance in the beginning of March 2021. See the 2020 edition here: elektron.art/en/festival/

The residents will be mentored by Maike Lond, Taavi Suisalu, Armando Rotondi and eˉlektron team.

Period:

• 01.02–21.02: panels with the mentors, development of the projects with mentors’ guidance, try-outs
• 22.02–28.02: internal residency showings and discussions
• 01.03–14.03: public showings of the performances at the International Performing Arts Festival of Spooky Action at a Distance 2021
