The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has launched an Open Call for Expo 2020 which will take place in Dubai from 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021.
The call invites individuals or organisations to propose exciting and innovative content, activities and events to be part of Ireland’s Expo 2020 programme ‘Ireland. Be Inspired!’
Proposals might include, but are not limited to:
- Music and dance performances
- Visual art
- Literary events
- Scientific, technological, economic or sporting demonstrations
- Cross-disciplinary debates, seminars and workshops.
Proposals Proposed events or initiatives should take place at the Irish pavilion or a named location at the Expo 2020 site. Proposed events and activities must be accessible to an open, public audience. Proposals may be geared specifically towards smaller segments of the public audience e.g. school or university groups visiting the Expo site, or professional or commercial audiences. Applications must be in respect of an Irish individual or organisation, or an individual or artist with an Irish connection. Applications should demonstrate cultural awareness of the laws and customs of the United Arab Emirates in terms of theme and content.
Applications should include details of the proposed work, including the method of approach and delivery. Applicants are invited to include images and or links to previous representative works (not necessarily in the same medium) in order to convey as accurate an idea as possible of their vision and practice. Funding Individuals or organisations may apply for funding to support the costs of their proposed participation in Ireland’s Expo programme. Funding must be payable to the individual or organisation named in the proposal. Funding applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis, in line with the suitability of the proposal in the context of Ireland’s Expo 2020 programme and its objectives.
Organisations may apply for funding to cover the following costs related to the presentation of proposed events and activities:
- Technical event support
- Equipment hire and maintenance
- Fees for performance rights
- Event publicity and communications
- Transport and insurance for technical equipment, musical instruments, stage equipment, props, art work etc.
- Economy flights
- Moderate accommodation costs
