K-FEST returns for 2020. With an attendance of more than 10,000 over the June Bank Holiday weekend each year, K-FEST promotes culture across a range of art forms in the town of Killorglin Co. Kerry. The festival affords new and emerging artists from Ireland and beyond the ability to showcase their work to a diverse audience, and K-FEST are now accepting arts submissions for their 2020 edition.
Selected artists show their work in curated, bespoke pop-up galleries throughout the town’s disused commercial and private spaces. It’s a wonderful use of unloved spaces and has allowed K-FEST to house over 600 visual artists since its inception.
All submissions selected for participation in K-FEST are entered for the Screaming Pope Prize. The prize recognises a single outstanding work of art each year during the festival and, upon selection by a panel of judges comprising acclaimed artists, critics and curators, the winner will receive the €1,000 prize.
K-FEST 20/20 will play host to more than 60 events in addition to a gallery trail and an array of multi-disciplinary exhibitions, all culminating with the Screaming Pope Prize ceremony on Sunday 31 May. The vibrant arts festival promises to have something to excite everyone with their largest and most ambitious programme to date.
Please note: There is a Submission Fee of €15 to apply. The artists selected will be paid a fee of €100. K-FEST cover evening meals for the artists as well as free entry into all festival events. They offer some discounted accommodation links for local B&B’s etc. Artists are expected to be onsite for installation and take down and for the duration of the festival as much as possible. Invigilators will help share the minding of work. There is no commission charged on sale of works.
K-FEST takes place from Friday 29 May to Monday 1 June 2020.
