The second edition of les Décades de la peinture Festival is open from August 7th to August 16th 2020 in Brioude. Located in the former Jean-Pradier’s school in nearly 700m² of rooms, front of the museum of modern and contemporary art Hotel du Doyenné in the centre of Brioude.
Les Décades are dedicated to emerging and independent contemporary artists looking for a showcase or artistic springboard. The aim is to promote talents not sufficiently known by the public and allow them to sell their works to visitors without any commission on sales.
All painted works are accepted:
- All painting styles (figurative, abstraction, whether or not forming part of a current…)
- All types of paint (gouache, acrylic, oil, watercolor, pastel, wax, pigments, ink, mixed techniques…).
- All mediums (entoiled frame, free canvas, wooden panel, metal, aluminium plate…)
- All formats (for formats greater than 2mx3m and for works greater than 10kg contact in advance for modalities)
During the 10 days of exhibition the presence of artists is not necessary (volunteers will keep the halls during the opening hours) but it is highly recommended, exchanges with the public being very enriching for all and increasing the chances of getting to know each other and selling.
The members of the Harpo’s Association and the volunteers organise the exhibition halls and the hanging of the paintings.
Artists are not asked for a submission fee for applications but there is a fee for those selected to exhibit. Following the decision of the selection committee, the artists selected for the 2020 edition can choose one of two formulas (to be indicated on the application file):
3 works + a fourth stored in reserve in case of sale: €60. For those under 25 years: €40.
5 works + a sixth stored in reserve in case of sale: €100
Artists are responsible for transport of works. During the festival, the Harpo’s Association organises the sale of works indicated by artists as not belonging to private collections. No commission is taken on sales by the association. A CB payment scheme is set up for 10 days for sales of works. An additional painting can be proposed by the artist. Stored in reserve, it will replace an exposed work in case of sale. The association undertakes to provide the purchaser with an invoice for the work acquiring it.
