2025 LIU SHIMING ARTIST GRANTS
supporting early career visual artists.

Artists from any country may apply, but the application and supporting materials must be submitted in English. To be eligible for consideration, applicants must have either received a degree in studio arts between 2015 and 2023, or had their debut show at a gallery or juried art exhibition between 2015 and 2023.

Successful applicants will be notified via email by December 2, 2025. Grants will be disbursed in two payments, with $3,000 by January 15, 2026 and the remaining $2,000 upon completion of the proposed project.

Applications must be completed and submitted by August 31, 2025.​

2025 Selection Panel
Laura Blanco
Pro bono advisor on museum governance and development; former board chair of The Bronx Museum of the Arts and current board member of multiple arts foundations.

Fran Kaufman
Curator and consultant to the Liu Shiming Art Foundation; inaugural Curatorial Director of the Liu Shiming Art Gallery and principal at Kaufman Vardy Projects.

Dr. Erin L. McCutcheon
Art historian and professor at the University of Rhode Island, specializing in Latin American and feminist art histories.

Hank Willis Thomas
Conceptual artist whose work explores identity, history, and collective memory; co-founder of For Freedoms.

Lilly Wei
New York-based art critic and curator with a global focus; contributor to Art in America, ARTnews, and major international exhibitions.
