OVER Journal is a new periodical publication and online platform that proposes to its readers a deep, honest, critical and edifying experience of Photography and Visual Culture.
OVER Journal is interested in challenging and preventing the repetition of obsolete and flawed structures, as much as highlighting the work of those who are expanding what we still call Photography into new horizons. The journal is a space for reflection on new practices, new voices, new ways of thinking.
Papers and Articles may be critically focused on aspects often overlooked that affect the discipline, zooming out to observe the whole scene, to analyse what exactly is happening, and what power relationships are at play.
OVER Journal accept submissions by email to firstname.lastname@example.org of papers, proposals for articles and interviews, and submissions of artistic work strictly under the following conditions outlined on the website: overjournal.org/submissions/
Call for Works:
The editorial team of OVER Journal welcomes submissions of artistic projects by creatives, photographers, visual artists, curators, researchers, thinkers, and any individuals working in and around contemporary image-based practices, for consideration. We welcome work-in-progress, unfinished, and experimental projects, as well as finished and complete bodies of work. We welcome from one-image works to complex large scale projects.
This call aims to represent the wealth and diversity of critical practices that constitute the contemporary global photographic community. Accepted submissions will be published either through overjournal.org or in the printed journal, depending on the editorial decision.
To submit, please email us one PDF file containing:
– A one page Bio/CV.
– A brief synopsis of up to 200 words.
– Images representing the Artworks
– Extra details such as installation documentation, and link to articles, further reading, social media, video sites, etc.
It is advisable to compress PDFs with services like pdfcompressor.com to significantly reduce file size, knowing that we will not necessarily judge a submission more positively because it contains hi-res files. OVER Journal will make sure they look at work at adequate resolutions when needed.
Submissions are free and we pay fees to all contributors.
