An Capall Dorcha are seeking anything which falls within the area of the written word and/or visual art. An Capall Dorcha is a new Journal, currently stocked in The Winding Stair, Marrowbone Books and Charlie Byrnes.

This includes but is not limited to fine art, photography, digital art, illustration, art writing/criticism, poetry, prose and essays. They will pay particular attention to Irish language submissions – specifically flash fiction, prose and poetry as Gaeilge.

Their concept for Issue 2 is ‘Resurrection’. This includes themes of rebirth, renewal, spring, revival, change, transition, etc., etc. This may be interpreted on a personal or universal scale – they won’t tell you what to do with this theme, it’s just a departure point for you to do whatever you like. There are no wrong answers…it’s not even a question!

There is no submission fee for An Capall Dorcha. However it is important to note that they have said as an independent and unfunded start-up, they are not in a position to pay contributors.

All written submissions should be in a size 12 font in word doc format. Short stories and longer prose pieces must be a maximum of 3,000 words. Written submissions should be previously unpublished. Please only include your name and contact details in the body of your email and not in the word doc itself as these will be considered by an editorial panel anonymously.
