Void Gallery is seeking applications from artists from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland for The Walker Plinth Commission, part of Void Offsite. Through generous funding from the Department of Foreign Affairs, two opportunities are now available for 2020 and 2021.
The Walker Commission is a collaboration between Void Gallery, The Siege Museum and the Derry Walls and its ambition is to create a series of sculptural interventions by artists both North and South of the border. Artists will be asked to respond to the context of the Walker plinth on the Derry walls. Void will work with both the artists and the communities in the area to create sculptural commissions that re-imagines and represents contemporary Derry.
Taking the Walker Plinth on the Derry Walls as a starting point, artists will be asked to develop a project with the community that surrounds the plinth animating the area and encouraging residents and visitors to look at where they are from a different perspective.
Budget: There is a total budget of £10,000 for each commission. This includes an artist fee of £2000.
This includes all installation and fabrication costs.
The selection panel will be announced shortly and will include an independent visual artist.
