St. Joseph’s National School is located in Rathwire Lower, Killucan, Co. Westmeath. It is a mixed primary school with 11 mainstream classes and 2 autism classes. It has a current enrolment of 280 pupils and is under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Meath. The school is situated in a new building since December 2015 and pictures of the building are available on our website www.rathwirens.ie
Aims of the commission
The aim of this submission is to commission a piece of art to enhance the foyer of the school
The budget is €11,000

Concept and materials
We are open to new or existing indoor work based on the theme of education/children growing. All mediums of art will be considered.
This will be a single stage process, proposal details to include CV, photos of previous work, outline concept, budget, timeline & drawings / visualisations.
All applications on or before 3pm 14th of June 2022.

- Your experience of creating original, high quality indoor artwork and managing such projects incorporating detail of maintenance requirements for such artwork (400 words max) (30/100);
- Quality of concept, artistic merit and relevance to the location and context of St. Joseph’s National School (400 words max) together with visuals of potential outcomes for the artwork in situ – digital images or scaled drawings (30/100);
- Budget detail – value for money with due consideration to long term value and impact (20/100); (150 words max)
- Timescale for realisation and projected completion date (deadline November 2022), inclusive of any research period and proposed approach to consultation and collaboration with key stakeholders. (150 words max) (20/100).
The selection panel will consist of the chairperson, secretary and one other member of the Board of Management of the school, along with an independent artist (including independent artist)
