What do we do now?
Artists living and working Ireland have already felt the huge impact of Coronavirus on their working practice.
- Access to studios has been limited
- Exhibitions have been postponed or cancelled
- There are fewer opportunities because of gallery schedules being pushed
- It has become harder to build and maintain professional networks
- The push towards online platforms has been accelerated
- Engaging with audiences has become harder
For this panel discussion, we have invited three experienced and influential curators to discuss how their working practices have been affected. They will discuss how their working relationships with artists have changed, and we will consider some of the things that artists can do, to adapt to this shifting landscape.
Seán Kissane is Curator of Exhibitions at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin. He has curated various shows bringing the work of international modern and contemporary artists to Ireland for the first time.
Sarah Perks is an international curator and writer, currently Professor of MIMA School of Art & Design, Middlesbrough, UK. Sarah’s practice looks at interdisciplinary curation, with a focus on socially and politically engaged contemporary visual art and the moving image.
Chris Clarke is Senior Curator at The Glucksman, University of Cork, Ireland. Previous to this position, he was Visual Arts Education Officer and Publications Officer at Cornerhouse, Manchester, England.
