Description

In this talk, artist and gallerist Janet Graham will share her experience of relocating both her art practice and Ross Fine Art gallery to the Netherlands. She will outline the motivations behind the move, the practical steps involved, and what she has learned along the way. The session will include a virtual tour of the gallery space.

Janet will also discuss her recent collaboration with psychiatrist Dr Marie O’Kane and the Irish Embassy, which led to the development of an exhibition titled ‘STAINED SHAMED SILENCED’. This work reflects on the historical containment and institutional abuse of Irish women, using evocative visual language to explore themes of trauma, silence, and resilience. The session will conclude with a discussion on both the geographic expansion of her practice and the exhibition’s forthcoming presentation in Ireland.

Janet Graham’s artistic focus centres on the hidden and silenced struggles of marginalised women. Through the layering of materials, textures, ideas, and imagery, she aims to emulate the emotional and historical complexities of these experiences. Her work seeks to create a melancholic beauty out of profound sorrow—offering a quiet yet powerful form of protest and a potential path toward healing.
