Join artist Kari Cahill for an introduction to the process of harnessing colour from your surrounding landscapes. Whether deep in the wilds, in a small garden or surrounded by a concrete jungle, this free online workshop will provide the basic methods and tools needed to go out and create natural usable colour from your surroundings.
Kari is an artist based out of The Model, Sligo, on the North-west Coast of Ireland. She was awarded the 2020 Visual Arts Bursary from the Arts Council. She has presented work throughout Ireland, more specifically at wild landscapes along the West Coast (Calafort 2019, Tombolo 16-19, Silva 18). She has presented work internationally in France, and more recently in Brazil after she was awarded the Arts Council’s Travel & Training award 2019.
This workshop is part of Tea by Post, a pilot seed-sharing project founded by artist Brenda Kearney in early 2021; in response to an initial call for participation, members of the public shared seeds for growing herbs for making tea. In return, they receive updates on research and growing in the form of small publications, and a special edition herbal tea at the end of the project. This series of workshops is funded and made possible by Creative Ireland and Kildare County Council.
