Course Date: 16th – 18th May 2022
Medium: Acrylic, oil, pigment and gouche paint
Participants: Maximum 8
Course level: All levels welcome
Course Cost: €370
The aim of this three-day workshop is to develop individual colour recipes inspired by and applicable to the landscape around us, to create a sample repertoire of tonal glazing techniques that will be developed into larger works.
Using Werner’s Nomenclature of Colours as a foundation, we will explore its tonal colour applications in the natural environment, organic and found ‘weathered’ objects from nature will be brought into the studio.
We will explore the colour pallet by working with the layering of complimentary and contrasting colours to create tonal ranges applicable to the selected natural item – looking at how both natural and artificial light changes and affects this tonal range. Working from the sample index, glazing and tonal techniques will be put into practice through the creation of a larger [still life / nature] composition.
During the workshop, Eamon will discuss the mix of traditional techniques and their contemporary application within his art practice – using pigment, oil and water based paints – through demonstrations, examples and group work, time will be given to work with each participant individually.
