WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Linocut is a dynamic and accessible relief printing technique where a design is carved into a linoleum surface, with the raised areas inked and pressed to create beautiful impressions on paper. This workshop introduces the multiblock linocut technique, in which multiple blocks are carved and printed in layers using different colours, resulting in vibrant, multi-coloured prints.
Participants will explore how to develop their own imagery and adapt source materials into a design suitable for lino printing. Over the course of the workshop, students will create and print a small edition of their own multiblock linocut artworks.

By the end of the session, participants will:
– Understand the full linoprinting process.
– Learn how to transfer a design onto lino.
– Practice safe and effective carving techniques.
– Explore methods of registration for aligning multiple blocks.
– Learn how to ink and hand-print their lino blocks.
– Take home their completed small set of prints.

The tutor will provide live demonstrations and guidance, covering tools, materials, and safe working practices. Whether you’re completely new to printmaking or looking to build on basic skills. You’ll gain the knowledge and confidence to continue lino printing independently at home.
