Suitable for beginners and improvers.

Course overview

In this course, we will explore the fundamentals of of drawing, beginning with basic geometric forms such as the sphere and cube. As the course progresses, we’ll build upon these fundamentals and move on to more complex subjects (plaster casts).

Key topics addressed in this course:

-Overview of drawing materials
-Understanding the concept of a preliminary sketch
-Exploring composition in art
-Principles of drawing: line and tone
-Understanding tonal relationships
-Quality of edges
-Comparative measuring
-Enhancing observational skills
-Techniques for shading and modelling
-The process of artistic selection

This course is ideal for anyone looking to develop their drawing skills. Beginners and artists of all skill level are welcome. This course is designed to serve as an introduction to other courses at CAS. It is recommended to complete this course before enrolling in any other courses.

Graduates of the previous Fundamentals of Drawing course will be encouraged to take on more advanced and challenging drawing projects.
