Intro to Film Photography using 35mm and 120 cameras
Dates: April 9th & 10th, 2022 (Saturday & Sunday)
Guest Teacher: Sebastian F. Mahon
This course is an introduction to Analogue Photography using 35mm film cameras and is guest taught by photographic artist Sebastian F. Mahon.
You will learn how to use the manual settings of a SLR camera this will include aperture, shutter and ISO speeds and also their affect on exposure and creativity within the image.
You will then learn to take a meter reading and how to load your film into the camera.
After lunch, we will go on a guided Photowalk, looking at different perspectives in ways to capture a good image, you will then come back and develop your film
2nd Day
Make a contact print from your negatives and learn how to make a print.
The Darkroom will provide all material which includes: film and photographic paper for the duration of this course and can supply 35mm SLR cameras for you to use in the course.

Sebastian F. Mahon | Bio
Sebastian F. Mahon is a photographic artist from Dublin, Ireland. Currently dividing his time between Ireland and the UK, Sebastian’s practice adopts a lyrically explores the relationship between memory, place and identity.
His most recent work ‘Lift Not the Painted Veil’ (2021) was produces whilst undertaking an Artist-in-Residence graduate programme with The Darkroom. He graduated with a BA in Photographic Media from Griffith College, Dublin 2020. His graduate work ‘The Transcendence of Innocent Objects’ was nominated for the Inspirational Arts Award and publishes as a TLP edition booklet by PhotoIreland. He is a Co-founder and Editor of AGORA, a multi-disciplinary art collective and zine publishers.
