Workshop | Matisse Workshop with Mags Harnett at Schoolhouse for Art
Some of Matisse’s most beautiful work was in his later life, when he was wheelchair bound. He began painting and cutting and created a new medium; the Cut-Out. What makes Matisse’s work much more than a simple collage? In this workshop participants will look at and understand Matisse’s inspiration and process. Then, working from a still life composition set up in the space and using the beautiful papers specially selected and supplied by Liberties paper, participants will create their own Cut-Outs.
Mags Harnett is a practising artist and art historian. She will guide you through the day. Not only will you come out with a deeper understanding of Matisse’s art, you will take home your own finished ‘Cut-Out’ artwork.
