Join artist Claire Halpin for a relaxed workshop in the gallery, focusing on the inspiration behind the architectural wood works on display. Follow the materials’ journey from the forest, where it is alive with sound and musical birdsong. Explore the historical theme in the form of an 8th century poem describing an early Irish chapel, or wood’s ability to record the memory of movement underfoot where stories of usage unfold over time. Having experienced these multisensory elements, respond in a hands-on, experimental workshop. Create your own personal structures or objects that explore memory, space, scale, containment, texture and form. No artistic experience necessary.
