Workshop | Portrait Painting: From Classical to Contemporary with Adrian Cooke at Cahir Arts

This course begins by teaching you Neoclassical portrait painting styles, conventions and techniques of the 18^th and 19^th centuries. These portraits prioritise the realistic depiction of three-dimensional form, natural colour and light, achieving likeness of the sitter, and conveying character and mood. The evolution of the portrait into the 20^th and 21^st centuries will then be explained and demonstrated, and you will learn how to create Modern and Contemporary portrait paintings.
